Video, photo and audio projects

#IWILLSPEAKUP Times Square billboard

I produced two 15-second videos broadcast on a Times Square billboard for two months in 2017. I used Adobe Premiere to create the videos. It featured content from the Joyful Heart Foundation’s #IWILLSPEAKUP campaign with celebrities encouraging men to “speak up” against violence and abuse.

Long Island Railroad audio postcard

This is an audio postcard I did of a typical ride on the Ronkonkoma branch of the Long Island Railroad in New York. I reported this piece using an Olympus LS-10 audio recorder. I edited and produced this story using Pro Tools.

Recovery after Sandy: Queens Museum of Art responds

This is an audio slideshow of a fundraiser held by the Queens Museum of Art to benefit the Rockaways, which was devastated after Hurricane Sandy in fall 2012. I reported this piece completely and edited and produced it using Final Cut Pro.

Rape kit reform in Texas video interview

I served as host of a video chat at the Joyful Heart Foundation on an achievement in Texas in implementing rape kit reform. I wrote the script and directed the piece.

2017 Joyful Journey audio slideshow

This is a photo slideshow of a year in review of the Joyful Heart Foundation’s most important moments in their work to end sexual and domestic violence and abuse. The video, produced in Adobe Premiere, was the organization’s first video slideshow.

Newtown shootings: From tragedy to community

This is a video/photo piece of a community in New York City trying to move forward after one of their former young residents, Benjamin Wheeler, was killed in his kindergarten classroom in Newtown, Conn. I reported the video using a DSLR video camera. I edited and produced the piece using Adobe Premiere.

Gala Cover Photo

I edited this veritcal photo in Adobe Photoshop to fit the horizontal frame size required for a cover image for a photo album. The original photo on the left is a close vertical shot focusing on the woman dressed in black in front of both an orange pillar and a glass one behind it. Because I needed a wider image with a shorter height, I used other images from the event to add more people and decor. On the right, I blended an image of a woman and a table with some party attendees next to the glass statue. On the left, I added in more floor space and a table with a photographer and wait staff to fill out the rest of the frame.

Signs for Runners

I edited this square photo in Adobe Photoshop to a horizontal and wider image necessary to fit the frame size within a web page. The original photo on the left had signs with words of inspiration for runners that included a blank one I wanted to make as a sign. I cropped the photo to zoom in on some of the signs. I used a different photo from the event’s selects that had the blue “Run for Joy” sign and added it on the bottom right corner to replace the blank sign. I removed some of the bowls of food and glasses of water on the upper right side to make the image less cluttered, as well as adjusted the sign on the upper right corner.

Ireland Portrait

I edited this portrait photo in Adobe Photoshop to remove the neon blue bag that was an eyesore for this otherwise nice, nature-filled image. I removed the bag and used grass and rocks from other parts of the original photo to blend over the blue bag. The picture also has hair blowing across the woman’s face and a bit on the top. I removed the hair so her face and top of the head was clear and no longer blocked.
